Virginia Right! is moving to a new server tonight. We will still be on a dedicated server but we are moving from HostGator, which has been a good server provider, to NameCheap.
A couple of years ago I moved all of my Domain registrations – a couple dozen – to NameCheap because of their policies. GoDaddy, my former Domain registrar, actually censored some Conservative Blogs and disabled the DNS. There was a big migration away from GoDaddy and NameCheap held a Move Your Registrar day. I have been with them ever since.
A lot of things we write here are considered controversial by the liberals. Like the Constitution, LEGAL immigration, not ILLEGAL. So it made sense to protect my domains by moving to a registrar that wouldn’t try to censor the Conservative message we spread at Va Right!
So when NameCheap started selling dedicated servers, I was considering moving to them as my hosting provider. And today, I did a bit of a comparison.
My current server is a dual core, the new server is a quad core.
My current server runs at 2.3 GHz and the new server runs at 3.4 GHz.
Old server 500 GB drive, new server 1 TB.
Old server 10 TB Bandwidth, new 100 TB.
And the price for the new server is 30% less per month. For hopefully almost twice the speed. The extra memory, 2 additional cores and higher frequency should make a noticeable difference.
So tonight at Midnight NameCheap will migrate all of my stuff to the new server. I hope it goes smooth, but if you see some outages tomorrow, please be patient. Gearing up for the 2016 Presidential Election!
