Modern Monetary Theory is taxation without representation

The Biden administration’s use of Modern Monetary Theory to create intentional inflation is a form of extreme taxation without representation.

If you ask for the fancy definition, this is what you’ll see when you look up Modern Monetary Theory (MMT):

MMT’s main tenets are that a government that issues its own fiat money:

  1. Can pay for goods, services, and financial assets without a need to first collect money in the form of taxes or debt issuance in advance of such purchases;
  2. Cannot be forced to default on debt denominated in its own currency;
  3. Is limited in its money creation and purchases only by inflation, which accelerates once the real resources (labour, capital and natural resources) of the economy are utilized at full employment;
  4. Can control demand-pull inflation by taxation which removes excess money from circulation;
  5. Does not compete with the private sector for scarce savings by issuing bonds. (Footnote omitted.)

Take away the high-flown language and here’s what MMT really says: Money is essentially an illusion. As long as the government controls the printing presses and is the world’s reserve currency, it can print as much money as it needs to fund current projects and pay down debt.

This is utter nonsense. Money is not an illusion. It’s an easy-to-use, fungible representation of a nation’s wealth. In the really old days, pre-money, goods and services were used in trade. We all remember Jack trading his cow for beans, right? That’s how the marketplace worked back in the day. Farmer Jones would have grain but need pigs, and Farmer Smith would have pigs but need grain.

The two farmers would enter into a straightforward deal that was actually fraught with complications. Both pigs and grain are difficult to transport to market. Also, the grain that Farmer Jones had available might be worth only three-and-a-half pigs. Would that require slaughtering a pig? Would Farmer Smith get less grain than he needed? Or would Farmer Smith give up a whole pig, grossly overpaying for the grain.

Also, in times of war (which was a chronic condition in the distant past), it was easy for marauding soldiers to find and confiscate your wealth. You can bury coins in the garden; you can’t do that with pigs or wheat.

Very early in human development, people figured out that they could use representations of their wealth to facilitate trade. The important thing about this early representational unit was that it had intrinsic value, so it had to be either scarce or unique. If it’s something common — e.g., pebbles —  it would be meaningless as a way to ascertain the value of goods and services in trade. Everybody would just fill their pockets with rocks and try to buy things from people whose pockets were equally full.

Enter precious metals: Gold was rare enough that it had intrinsic value. Silver and copper did too. People could easily carry a little chunk of gold or silver. In addition, both metals could be split. It’s easier to split a chunk of gold during a transaction than to cut the pig in half.

The problem, though, was that people had different ideas about the value of a given piece of metal. They realized that the best way to determine the value of money (which, again, has representational, not intrinsic, value) was to have a centralized place that pressed the metal into recognizable shapes with a stable value.

We know that, by the 8th century BC, Greece had figured out the idea of a standardized coin. The government’s imprimatur on a coin was an assurance that the money people were handling was a legitimate precious metal with a standardized value. (If you’ve ever wondered by the ridges along the edges of our dimes and quarters, they’re a remnant of the time when money was actually made from precious metals. People would delicately shave off bits of gold or silver from the edges — “clipping” the coin — until they had enough to make their own coins while debasing the issued coins.)

Gold is heavy, though. Eventually, the idea of a second level of representative wealth came along: Paper money or coins made from a lighter metal, both of which could be easily transported. Always, though, the promise was that these essentially valueless bits of paper and metal were backed by real gold, e.g., “I may be giving you a printed piece of paper but there’s real gold in Fort Knox.” This sense of real value was why so many Americans worried when America abandoned the gold standard — that is, when it disconnected money’s direct relationship to a precious metal.

American money now represents the collective wealth of a nation, bound up in its real property, goods, services, and even its citizens’ potential. Or at least, that’s what it’s supposed to do.

That gets me to inflation. Inflation occurs when the collective wealth remains the same but the government keeps issuing more paper money. Whenever you have more of something, it is worth less. Where it once took 50 cents to buy a candy bar, all that excess of money floating around means it now takes $5 to buy the same bar. The bar hasn’t changed, but money has cheapened because the government keeps flooding it into the marketplace.

MMT gives the government permission to flood the marketplace with money to fund its own schemes and pay its own debts. Maybe that’s a good deal for the government but for ordinary people, who are a nation’s real wealth, it’s a disaster. Their buying power devalues drastically because everything costs more.

Take Grandma Jones, for example. Grandma Jones worked hard all her life. She denied herself many pleasures during her working years so that she could squirrel away money in her savings for her old age. Imagine for this example that she saved $10,000.

When Grandma Jones retired, her monthly shopping trip for food and goods (toilet paper, etc.) cost $100. She anticipated 100 months of shopping, or over 8 years, at that rate. She assumed that she had about six years of life in her, so she’d have supplies until the end and still have something to leave to her children.

There are a lot of people like Grandma Jones in America. When they retire, they expected that their nest eggs will keep a roof over their heads and food in their tummies.

However, right as Grandma Jones stops working, the government discovers MMT and starts printing money like crazy. The available goods and services in the marketplace remain static but cash is raining down from the sky like snowflakes in a blizzard. Because each of these units of money now represents a smaller fraction of the available wealth of America, merchants raise the prices on the goods to reflect their real value.

Thanks to MMT, it now costs Grandma Jones $500 a month to buy the same supplies and, because the government is still printing away, that soon doubles to $1,000. Within less than two years, Grandma Jones has no savings at all. She applies for welfare but a lot of people are doing so as well. The system is overloaded. When she finally gets her EBT card, she discovers that its static value is also overwhelmed by rapidly escalating prices due to inflation. Soon, Grandma Jones is eating cat food. When that runs out, she lies down and quietly dies.

When the government takes money from the people to fund its own spending, that’s a tax. America’s founding was predicated on the notion that a free people cannot be taxed without representation. That’s why decisions about taxes run through the House, which, because it has elections every two years, is the chamber closest to the people’s will.

By intentionally creating inflation, the government is imposing a tax on American’s savings. The government is using MMT to bypass the laborious and unreliable process of getting the House to approve new taxes.

I’m not sure how to start, but people need to push back hard against MMT. At a theoretical level, it’s nonsense. And at a practical level, it brutally taxes those who can least afford it (people living on savings or fixed incomes), while simultaneously destroying the economy. As a start, I’d suggest writing your Congressman or woman urging that Congress immediately pass a law stopping the government printing presses.

Is the whole government in on this fraudulent election?

By Robert Arvay

Every once in a while, most of us wind up in situations where we are completely baffled.  It may be a simple situation, such as having looked literally everywhere for our reading glasses, and not having found them.  Did they violate the laws of physics and just vanish?  One knows that that cannot be true, and yet, as the old saying goes, once one has ruled out every logical possibility, only the illogical remains, no matter how unlikely it is.

Another situation is the one we are in now.  Any informed person, with a modicum of sense, can see that the presidential election results, at best, are not to be trusted and at worst are rampantly fraudulent.  Yet it seems that court after court, and investigative agencies one after the other, are turning a blind eye.  Are they violating the laws of physics?

It turns out that the reading glasses did not disappear; they were in place, but pushed up, on one’s forehead all along.  There was a logical explanation after all.

And sadly, it turns out that the courts and government agencies were not turning a blind eye.  They have been, all along, part of the fraud.  No matter how unlikely that seems, it is the only answer remaining.

In other words, we lost this battle a long time ago.  As soon as Trump was elected president in 2016, the dark state realized that it had blundered.  Its members had underestimated the degree of fraud it would need to defeat him.  This time, they removed all possibility of failure, and even then, they needed vastly more fraud than even they had anticipated.  Stuffing the ballot boxes was not enough; they had to call time out, for a few hours, so they could print yet more ballots.  Indeed, they printed so many more that the sheer number of them made it obvious that they were cheating.

One might think they overplayed their hand, that they had used a sledgehammer to swat a mosquito.  In doing so, they removed all reasonable doubt — the election was clearly rigged.  But the dark state was so desperate that its operatives cared nothing for how it seems to the informed observer.  Nothing.  They just had to make absolutely sure that there would be no way that Donald Trump would be declared the winner.

The culprits were not merely the usual suspects — the Adam Schiffs and Eric Swallwells and their ilk.  As profoundly and obviously corrupt as they are, they are weak.  They could not have pulled this off without some heavyweight criminals in high places, including the courts, the premier law enforcement agencies, the intelligence bureaus, and the private sector communications companies.

It is certain that President Trump has been a wrecking ball against the dark state.  He came at it with courage, resolve, and a level of acumen that the left had dangerously underestimated.  The 2020 election was, as the establishment saw it, the last and final chance to remove the threat he poses to their power.  Had the election been honest, Trump would have won so overwhelmingly that the Democrat Party, for one, would have become a thing of the past.  Trillions of dollars were at stake worldwide, including in China.  People go to war for that kind of money and that level of power.

It is unsurprising, then, that there was nothing, literally nothing, from which the dark state would refrain, in its attack — not even if it destroys the republic.  This was the final banzai charge.  It was do or die.

There is only one remaining backstop that can defeat the dark state.  It is we, the people, the heirs of 1776.  In that year, the Founders declared their concerns not only for themselves, but for their as yet unborn “posterity.”  They cared about us.  Will we care as much for our descendants?

Now we know for sure that our judges and justices are abject cowards

Article appeared first in AmericanThinker.Com

Supreme Court Justice Amy Barrett, 2020
Stinking, Reeking COWARD, Supreme Court Justice Amy Barrett, 2020

Now we know for sure that our judges and justices are abject cowards

Several weeks ago, we worried that the judges and justices, state and federal, may not have the courage to take up the cases before them addressing the massive election fraud that took place November 3rd.  Now we know that they are all cowards, the Constitution be damned.

Even the three SCOTUS justices Trump fought for were too terrified to do the right thing.

The intimidation tactics of the left – Antifa, BLM, and the campus fascists — have worked.  They have frightened each and every judge and justice, with the not surprising exceptions of Clarence Thomas and Sam Alito, into disregarding Articles II and III of the Constitution.

The vote fraud that took place in Michigan, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Georgia, Arizona and Nevada was monstrous and long planned.  Election laws were surreptitiously weakened by secret consent decrees (GA), mass mail-in ballots, Dominion vote machines programmed to flip votes, the creation of tens of thousands of fake ballots, illegal alien voting, illegal drop boxes, get-out-the-vote campaigns in Democrat-heavy districts paid for by the execrable Zuckerberg of Facebook infamy, the refusal to allow GOP observers, ballots trucked from one state to another.

The judges dismissed lawsuits in every court where one was filed by the Trump campaign or other plaintiffs, seemingly without even considering the details.  The Supreme Court justices surely all know what took place; they can’t have missed all the hearings at which witnesses to fraud testified and signed affidavits as to the truth of what they observed.  But the judges and justices were afraid.  Now that the left seems to have successfully stolen the election, they will certainly do it again.  They have the permission of the SCOTUS.  Margot Cleveland does a masterful job explaining how cowardly the court’s dismissal was.

Every remotely sentient American by now knows that the Democrats cheated every conceivable way possible.  Around 30% of Democrats reportedly do not believe the final result.  Biden did little actual campaigning but knew his win was in the bag thanks to the combined forces of big tech (Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, Twitter), the mainstream media that is the propaganda arm of the DNC, and all those Soros-installed state secretaries of state, AGs, and election officials willing to do the left’s and Soros’s bidding for a price.

The nine justices on the Supreme Court surely know all this as well.  They know it all but refused to take the case just as all those state judges dismissed the cases before them.  They are simply scared to do the job they swore to do – uphold the Constitution.

One has to wonder, how many of them have been threatened?  Have they had their families threatened?   So, the bottom line is that none of them should ever have been seated on those courts in the first place, not Gorsuch, Kavanaugh or Barrett to say the least.  Not because Trump nominated them but because when the going got tough, they folded like cheap tents.  All of them except Thomas and Alito, forever true heroes for they are the real thing.  How profoundly disappointing is it that Kavanaugh, whom so many fought so hard for, did not have the guts to stand up against the overwhelming Democrat vote fraud that took place.  They are all scaredy cats, like little children running from bullies.

It appears that the left’s strategy of “obey us or suffer the consequences” has worked.  They looted and burned numerous cites over the summer vowing that law enforcement must be defunded or disbanded.  Biden and Harris failed to condemn the rioting and Harris staffers raised bail money for the rioters.  And now we are to believe they won!

Biden will never be considered the legitimate president by the eighty million (not the 74 the left claims) people who did vote for Trump.  Biden has always been a greedy power seeker, a liar, a plagiarist, a racist, a groper of women of all ages, and an all-around very nasty man.  Ask anyone who knows him personally.  And now we know that he and his family are nothing but grifters on a grand, global scale.

There is no way Joe Biden was fairly elected.  The left planned on cheating; they just did not plan on having to make it so obvious.  Even big tech and the media, so deranged by Trump hatred, failed to realize how much most Americans came to love and respect this President.

Obviously, Biden is not well, he is declining quickly.  And now that the family’s illegal financial dealings around the world are coming to light, their allegiance and submission to China for example.

Biden may have to resign (if inaugurated) within months.  If that happens and the absurdly unqualified Harris becomes president, the America we knew and loved will be over.  The US will be just another rough and brutal place run by some really awful people drunk on power.  See Peter Weston’s short video to get a Brit’s perspective on the degeneration of our once democratic republic.   And say a little prayer of sadness for all the judges who dismissed valid cases probably without reading them and for the wholesale failure of the Supreme Court of the US to do its due diligence and uphold the Constitution.

George S. Patton once wrote:

“Battle is the most magnificent competition in which a human being can indulge. It brings out all that is best’ it removes all that is base. All men are afraid in battle.  The coward is the one who lets his fear overcome his sense of duty.”

…If Washington and Jefferson were nothing but slave-owning racists, then why bother with Washington’s Farewell Address or the Declaration of Independence? If Hamilton and Madison didn’t demand and get the immediate abolition of slavery, then why support the Constitution? Why prolong a constitutional republic when Utopia supposedly is within our grasp? Work within the system to destroy the system….

…Lives of American Indians were anything but. (I say American Indians instead of Native Americans because anyone legally born in the United States is a native American, and if the name, American Indian Movement, was good enough for Dennis Means, it is good enough for me.) As Lawrence Keeley demonstrates in his book War Before Civilization, the lives of those Indians were incessantly violent with almost constant intertribal warfare.  This was not war to be fought by the fainthearted, as it was characterized by ambushes, murders, scalping, and the atrocious treatment of prisoners. All this after the horrific initiation ordeals for boys often mandated by the tribe….

…But that was then, and this is now. In little more than a year, the winds of destructive revisionism are now at gale force, and, as a rule, college administrators are a cowardly bunch….

Communist Chinese Flag
Communist Chinese Flag

By Robert Arvay

Article ran first in AmericanThinker.Com

When Barack Obama was elected president in 2008, I knew that the nation had made a big mistake, but I was confident that we could survive it.  Now I have no such confidence.  Biden and Harris have done all they can to steal an election.  They are corrupt politicians and also unprincipled accomplices of radical leftist ideologues.  They are wholly owned by the dark state, and its corporate minions, which in turn is deeply intertwined with Communist China.

Our rights are in serious jeopardy, beginning with the First Amendment.  With few exceptions, there is no longer a free press, but only a propaganda industry that will censor any information adverse to the left and attack conservatives with false allegations.

The incoming usurping administration, should it take office, will move immediately to consolidate its authority and permanently ensconce itself in every position that matters to it.  It will hunt down everyone whom it perceives to be a threat to its supremacy and neutralize him, either by physical force or economic deprivation.

Honest elections are now a thing of the past.  Dissent will not be tolerated.  Courts will not matter.  Schoolchildren will be indoctrinated rather than educated.  Once the left seizes power, it never relinquishes it without bloodshed.

This nation was founded by men who pledged their lives and their fortunes to it, and more than that, invested their sacred honor in the struggle for freedom.  Sadly, it seems that among today’s leaders, scant few would sign the Declaration of Independence.  They whine that they are powerless instead of taking the only decisive actions that would have successfully reversed the greatest fraud in our history.  Many more of them are counting their pieces of silver.

I fully expect that Joe Biden will soon be found, by his enablers, to have served his purpose.  Jill Biden fancies herself to be the Dowager Empress, but Kamala Harris will soon slap her aside and then declare, “I sit a queen, and shall know no sorrow.”  (Look it up.)

[ Revelation 18:7 “How much she hath glorified herself, and lived deliciously, so much torment and sorrow give her: for she saith in her heart, I sit a queen, and am no widow, and shall see no sorrow.” ] King James Version (KJV) I looked it up—JAF, ed.

But the beast has a ravenous appetite and will swallow her also.

Whoever is installed as the figurehead, the real heads of dominion will be invisible and, therefore, all the more powerful.

The final backstop to the illegal dictatorship will be we, the people.  How much do we value our freedom?  How much do we love our children?  How afraid are we to seize back what is rightfully ours, given to us by God?

Time will tell.

The District of Corruption Has Overplayed Its Hand

By J.B. Shurk

Excerpt:

…I think the only thing keeping Trump voters from burning the whole corrupt system down right now is that nobody knows whom or what to attack.  That should be a pretty sobering consideration for an establishment class that thinks it just stole the 2020 presidential election fair and square….

…In poker parlance, the D.C. crowd is bluffing that Joe Biden won the 2020 election, and it’s daring the American people to call it out.  It’s a dangerous gamble.  If these people get away with it, there’s really nothing holding them back from here on out.  If they can institute a system where the importance of the voter disappears and the only question is whether battleground state officials are corrupt enough to certify fraudulent election totals, then those darned rubes who value their individual rights cease to matter at all.  But if enough Americans call their bluff, well, then the D.C. corruptocrats lose everything….

Los Angeles is about to get Mad Max rules

by Andrea Widburg

Los Angeles’s new District Attorney, George Gascón, who ran his campaign with a healthy heaping of George Soros funding, has announced that henceforth he will no longer prosecute quality of life offenses or ask for cash bail. Like leftists all over 2020 America, he’s reimagining criminal justice as a world without police, without laws, and without jails. While he tries to sell a Garden of Eden, I’m imagining Mad Max rules, while being grateful, very grateful, that my friends in L.A. are legally armed….

…Los Angeles already has the second-largest homeless population in America. Once lifestyle policing goes out the window, there’ll be nothing separating Los Angeles from Mad Max’s dystopia.

There’s going to be a lot of suffering come down the pipeline, as criminals inevitably prey on vulnerable street people and the working and middle classes. Expect the exodus from California to increase, with huge numbers of leftists, having despoiled the Golden State but still not learning their lesson, spreading the same disastrous policies across America.

“These are just anomalies.  They happen in every election.”

[“MOVE ALONG, THERE’S NOTHING TO SEE, AMERICA!”]

Well folks, anomalies cease to be anomalies when they all go in one direction.  When every outlier favors Biden, we enter the realm of prima facie fraud.

Fraud.

It’s an ugly word.

It does not have a pretty synonym.  Too bad.

Election fraud at the industrial scale perpetrated in the 2020 election is a crime most Americans will remember all their lives.  Books and movies will come out.  Retired math PhDs exiled to the basement by their spouses will continue to find statistical patterns that simply do not happen in straight data sets.

Like all great crimes, the 2020 election fraud will have a diffusion curve with early believers and early deniers, later adopters and fewer deniers and finally, only the ideologically blind will deny.

Diffusion curves happen in nature, in technology, in disease spread, in the understanding of any popular idea.  In early stages only the really committed dig in.  Over time, a realization makes its way into popular culture and eventually most have generally seen the data.  We are departing the early adopter stage of 2020 election fraud understanding.

The all-in media is double timing to convince the later adopters there is nothing to see here.

It isn’t working.  Too much stuff is coming out from too many places and there are just too many alternative web sites publishing fraud examples on such a scale it cannot be denied by any but the willful.

We are about to move out of the early adopter phase and more into the later adopters, the early mainstream.  Evidence of this is the hardy groups of state legislators inviting Rudy and the Excellent Adventure Team to make sure they are not on the wrong side of this gnarly problem.

Some of the Atlanta folks who took advantage of a fake water main break are hiring lawyers.  Seemed like a slam dunk only a month ago.  What happened?

Formerly anonymous people, now public witnesses to election fraud, are coming forward and their personalities, magnified by television – quirky, innocent, naïve, immigrant, feisty are having a pronounced effect.  Some are gathering fans.  This is not how it was supposed to be.

Trump MAGA voters appear to be driven by only one issue:  Trump got screwed and any Republican politico who denies it is in for tough sledding.  Politicos are starting to get it.  The Trump voters do not appear to be getting on with the program.

Fox News ratings plummeted in just a week or two because they seemed to be in on it and later doubled down by not reporting it.  ‘It,’ that is, being industrial scale election fraud – against Trump.

Erwin Rommel told his generals that if they did not stop the Allies on the beach, the war was lost.

Similarly, the media needed to extinguish the 2020 election fraud story in a week or two, or this multi-headed demon would be too big to stop.  It is getting too big.

It was easy for Governor Ducey or Kemp, the hapless Georgia Secretary of State and Lt. Governor to be above it all and deny fraud for the first couple of weeks.  These are the good guys, elections are honest, this is America.  Let’s move on.

But we aren’t moving on.  Things are getting sticky.  There is that video of the suitcases.  Yuk!  So inconvenient.  Then that Trump rally, masses of committed voters all with one voice.  “Stop the Steal!” shouted together does scare guys like Kemp in a very existential way.  This was not supposed to happen.

There are these websites, talk radio people, MIT statisticians, all-too-human witnesses on the Rudy Show.  This is having an impact and the narrative is no longer being controlled by the media.  The fraud story is spreading to the early mainstream.

There is the growing understanding that vote machines should not count in fractions.  No black and white denial that they were spawned in some very bad places.  Compelling evidence accumulates, from crew cut, straight backed military types, showing election night internet packet traffic from voting machines that are not connected to the internet.  Oops.

Packets went to Iran, Serbia, Germany.  Why?  People are noticing there is no Dominion CEO coming forth, under oath saying “not so.”

Even the most computer illiterate understands this is not as it ought to be.

There is a universal characteristic to really bad news.  It never comes out early.  It drips out, a bit at a time, and there is always one more painful point coming.

This narrative is coming apart and it will only escalate, move quickly, get more colorful, people will turn.

Who then will be the 2020 election fraud deniers?

Hey Ducey, Kemp, RINOs, it’s all downhill from here

.
