ARTICLE BY MICHAEL SNYDER:
[IRAN, ISRAEL, WAR]
Are we about to see World War 3 erupt in the Middle East? Over the past several days, Israel has attempted to prevent attacks by Iranian forces and their allies by striking targets in Syria, Gaza, Lebanon and Iraq. As you will see below, political leaders in both Lebanon and Iraq are now accusing Israel of a “declaration of war”, and Hezbollah is pledging to strike Israel back extremely hard. Of course if a full-blown war erupts between Israel and one of her neighbors, it is likely to become a multi-front war almost immediately. But at the core, this is a conflict between Israel and Iran. The Iranians have repeatedly pledged to wipe the nation of Israel off the face of the planet, and the coming “final war” is going to literally be a matter of life or death for those two nations. Both sides have been preparing for this “final war” for a very long time, and once it fully erupts the death and destruction that we will witness will be off the charts.
Israeli forces openly claimed attacks over the weekend in Syria and the Palestinian-administered Gaza Strip and were blamed for two more operations in Lebanon and Iraq. As reports of what occurred across the region emerged, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu hinted at his country’s ongoing efforts abroad, telling a Monday planning meeting that “we will deepen our roots and strike at our enemies.”
In Syria, Israeli warplanes killed two members of the Lebanese Hezbollah. Israel says the individuals were supporting an Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps plot to launch explosive-laden drones into Israel. The Israelis say that the specific Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps unit responsible was the Quds Force, led by Qassem Soleimani. If true, the Quds Force was likely using Hezbollah as a deniable proxy to avoid direct links between the plot and Tehran.
In another operation in Lebanon, Israel targeted another Iranian-allied group, the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine. In Iraq, senior Iran-aligned figures accused Israel of another air strike.
Missiles are not flying directly back and forth between Israel and Iran yet, but at this point a state of war essentially exists, and many are deeply concerned about what is going to happen next.
In particular, it looks like Hezbollah could launch a large scale attack against Israel at any moment, because their leadership is absolutely furious that the Israelis just hit their headquarters building in Beirut…
Hassan Nasrallah, Hezbollah’s secretary-general, threatened to attack Israel in retaliation for a drone attack over the weekend on the organization’s headquarters in Beirut. Tensions between Israel and Hezbollah are now at their highest point since the 2006 war.
And the Lebanese government itself is extremely angry as well. In fact, the president of Lebanon has publicly stated that what Israel has just done is essentially the equivalent of “a declaration of war”…
Lebanese President Michel Aoun met Monday with the U.N. Special Coordinator for Lebanon Jan Kubis, calling Israel’s moves in Beirut and Qusaya “a declaration of war.”
The statement echoed the words of Iraq’s powerful Fateh Alliance, which called separate strikes that killed a militia commander in the border town of Al-Qaim “a declaration of war on Iraq and its people,” according to the Associated Press.
This is an extremely serious situation. Israel is literally on the brink of war with Hezbollah, and many feel that such a war is inevitable.
A powerful bloc in Iraq’s parliament has called for the withdrawal of US troops from Iraq, following a series of air raids targeting Iran-backed Shia militias in the country that have been blamed on Israel.
The Fatah Coalition said on Monday that it holds the United States fully responsible for the alleged Israeli aggression, “which we consider to be a declaration of war on Iraq and its people.”
We had not seen the Israeli military strike targets in Iraq until just recently, and this latest attack has absolutely enraged the Shia militias. During the funeral procession for the commander that was killed in the attack, some of the Shia fighters were actually trampling the American flag…
The Shia militia group, meanwhile, held a funeral procession in Baghdad for the commander killed on Sunday.
“There is no greater God but God!” the mourners shouted as they marched behind a banner with the words “Death to America” and “Death to Israel.” Some trampled on an American flag as they marched.
Thousands of U.S. soldiers died, thousands more were injured, and we spent trillions of dollars in the process of “liberating” Iraq, and this is how they feel about us.
What a colossal waste.
Ultimately, nothing is going to be able to stop the massive war that is coming to the region. The Iranians and all of their allies have a religiously-fueled hatred for Israel that most people living in the western world will never understand, and they are absolutely obsessed with permanently destroying the nation of Israel as it exists today. There will never be peace between the two sides, and the coming apocalyptic conflict will literally be a battle for national survival.
This can definitely be described as a time of “wars and rumors of wars”, and the situation on the ground is extremely fluid right now. The fact that the Israelis have another national election coming up adds another layer of complexity to all of this, and that election may cause events to accelerate even faster than many were anticipating.
Let us pray for peace, because right now tensions are extremely high and things are beginning to spiral out of control.
And when a full-blown war does break out, it is highly likely that the U.S. will get involved, and that will have enormous implications for all of us.
“Emotionals”—Such As Our Millennials, Democrat Voters, and Suburban USA Housewives—Have No Reason. They Don’t, Or Can’t, THINK.
OPINION: BY JEFFREY A. FRIEDBERG
There’s a problem with Emotionals.
These are “folks” who don’t actually think, but react. They react with emotions—with feelings. Not with actual thoughts or reasoning.
They don’t think things through or maybe ask, “How did this work out the last time it was done?”
Because there are others whom they could ask. There are older, wiser, and more experienced people in the world. You know—from the generations who fought in WWII, Korea, Viet Nam, Iraq, Afghanistan, and elsewhere across the Earth.
Others, who came long before the current sea of lies, bullsht, and Hollywood make-believe.
Emotionals could learn, from those of us who INVENTED computers, transistors, lasers, CDs, video, the space age, and the Internet Itself.
But, no. Emotionals think all they need are their phones and digital devices. They never think how these devices are all programmed by OTHER Emotionals— who don’t think either.
”Emotionals” can include millennials, suburban housewives, and democrat voters. Instead of asking others outside their tribes, or investigating thoroughly for themselves, they seem to rely on programming. What they were “taught” in Government creches—the so-called, “schools.” The inculcation centers where they were originally brainwashed.
You know what I mean—the test tubes where they were trained not to think; not to question; not to have any real imagination, independence from the group, or any spirit of patriotism.
No, they were taught the opposite. By Captain Planet; by Sesame Street; by Fred Rogers; by hate groups; by Mr. Barack “Barry Soetoro” Obama; by kneeling athletes, Nike, Anderson Cooper, Chuck, Rachel, other talking nobodies on the “news,” and—oh—by Supergirl on Canadian TV.
And by all those make-believe freaks in Hollywood movies, who taught them there is no point resisting. There is no point in trying to go it alone. There is nothing they can do against real poWER.
You know—POWER pumped in your face by “social” media. POWER rammed inTO your orifices by “silicon valley.” THE POWER of propaganda, lies, obfuscation, and deletion.
Power of The Nothing.
No—now they “know everything.”
They tell me I am old, and should die.
Well—fck you, pal—I’m not, and I won’t.
They ignore witnesses to the past. They avoid elders as unclean. They “KNOW” what their pre-programmed emotions and feelings tell them.
They have zero need for logic. They already have the answers.
They have been told what to think.
To them “It’s a new world.” —Noit’s not.
It’s the same world with the same bullsht, same lies, same propaganda, and same totalitarian aspirations. It’s the same old crap, “bro.” …seen it three times already.
What’s different, is: for the first time in human history, the science exists to enslave a world. Earth.
WE invented it. But THEY are harnessing it.
Will electing Trump in 2020 stop them?
Will it slow them down?
Will it get rid of them?
No. The only thing that can do that—is they, themselves. If they decide to open those gates.
The Israeli 2019 elections are over, and in spite of all the nonsense in the garbage press, there’s only one major reason why it turned out as it did. In the end, Israel voted for life, plain and simple.
The results are as follows, but basically they can be understood as the collapse of the Israeli Left and a final verdict on the Left’s worst mistake… Oslo and the fallacy of the so called ‘two state solution.’
Bibi Netanyahu has won a record breaking fifth term as Israel’s prime minister. And the new government he will form will likely be further to the right, more nationalistic and much more stable then the current one with at least 65 seats or more. They may even get more because Israeli law specifies that those parties who fail to make the vote threshold (3.5%) must distribute their votes to another party.
The Blue and White Party, with former Labour General Benny Ganz and his co-chairman former TV Talking head Yair Lapid were supposed to win and oust Netanyahu. A lot of the Israeli press was touting them, since basically, the Blue and White party consisted of politicians who favored Oslo and the two state ‘land for peace’ solution. Ganz has always been noted for his hostility to Israelis who live in Judea and Samaria and Lapid’s sole claim to fame aside from his TV antics was that he was once finance minister as part of the usual Israeli political horse trading. I remember asking one of my Israeli friends in Lapid knew anything about finance. His response? “Well, I think maybe he knows how to use an ATM.’ Actually a pretty accurate answer as it turned out. In the end, they got 34 seats, almost all of them based on votes from Tel Aviv, which is almost akin to New York in terms of its politics. I doubt the Blue and White will be around for the next election. The entire Left coalition got perhaps 50 seats or so, including the Arab parties.
Israel’s Leftist Labour Party, which ruled the country for decades is essentially out of the picture. They won all of six seats in the new 120 member Knesset. The EU funded ultra Left Meretz Party had a grand total of four seats.
All the polls of the 2019 Israeli Elections had Blue and White leading Israel’s Left to victory. The press even trumpeted Israel’s attorney general’s last minute ‘indictments’ of Netanyahu for corruption, things that in most other countries would not even be questionable. Like our own president, Netanyahu has a lot of haters on the Left. Among his other sins, it was MIT grad Netanyahu who as finance minister rebuilt Israel’s economy by privatizing a number of things the government shouldn’t have been owning and encouraging entrepreneurship, pushing joint government and private industry projects, and generally turning Israel from a quasi-Socialist state with a struggling economy into the economic powerhouse it is today. The Left has never forgiven him.
So why did he win?
To understand that, you have to review both the past and the recent present.
The mantra of the Israeli Left was always ‘land for peace.’ The idea with Oslo was that this would work out like the deal with Egypt. There would be peace, and Israel’s diplomatic status and image with foreign countries and the UN would be improved. Actually, that deal never really worked that way. Only since Egypt’s Al Sissi took over has there been real co-operation between the two governments, based on a mutual distaste for Islamist terrorism.
The Camp David Accord was different because Anwar Sadat really wanted peace. Yasser Arafat was a Soviet trained terrorist who had no intention of it. It was President Bill Clinton who really created Oslo and gifted Arafat with his own kleptocrat fiefdom. Mr.Bill loved Yasser. He had him to the White house more than any other foreign dignitary, even though he knew Yasser Arafat had ordered two US diplomats tortured to death in the Sudan. And after Mr. Bill intervened in the Israeli elections to get Labour’s Yitzhak Rabin elected, the time was right. Arafat, huddled away in Tunis with his small group of thugs was given territory to have as an autonomous region (not a sovereign state) in exchange for renouncing terrorism, avoiding incitement to violence and embracing peaceful co-existence.
Needless to say, he did nothing of the kind. The ensuing bloodbath and suicide bombings mounted up as the most appalling atrocities were committed while Rabin and the Labour Party talked about sacrifices for peace. And Israel’s seeking peace resulted in even worse foreign relations with the EU and UN, demanding more and more concessions of Israel and only Israel.
The same thing happened after Gaza. The UN, President George W. Bush and his Roadmap and the EU all promised Gaza would strengthen Arafat as a gesture for peace, and that Gaza would never be allowed to become a security problem for Israel. None of those guarantees were worth the paper they were written on either.
Most Israelis realize now that the entire ‘Oslo/Land for peace/ Two state solution’ nonsense is and always was a total fallacy. you can’t allow a den of rattlesnakes or a pack of rabid dogs to live in your backyard and expect to have peace. It doesn’t work that way. And tthat’s really what Israel’s 2019 elections were about.
Netanyahu announcing that he’s going to annex the Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria and that he is committed to make them part of Israel is a major change. Among other things, it means those communities will be under Israeli law rather than military law. It gives them permanency.
Likewise, Netanyahu finally coming up with the courage to say there will be no ‘Palestinian State’ is also a major step. There’s no reason for one and never has been, especially since Jordan gave these Arabs citizenship back in 1954 and most of these ‘Palestinians’ still have it, including Mahmud Abbas. ‘Palestine’ has received more aid money than any other developing nation in history. What is there to show for it except some fat bank accounts in the EU and the Emirates? Nothing except a terrorist squat with murder for hire as its chief export.
The Israeli 2019 elections were the electorate finally saying ‘Ani lo friar‘* once and for all. Recent terrorist attacks, including the brutal murder and rape of a nineteen-year- old girl and the murder of a Rabbi with ten children definitely help solidify this sentiment.
Another reason for Netanyahu’s win is his diplomatic successes. His relationships with the UN and some of the nations in the the EU are a problem , but the relations to the UN and these particular EU Nations with any Israeli leader would be the same. They have their far Left and a lot of Muslim migrants to appease.
But Israel under Netanyahu has fostered very close relationships with Russia’s Putin, India’s Modi, Brazil’s Bolsanaro, numerous African nations, Australia’s Scott Morrison, Egypt’s Al Sissi and other Arab nations and of course, our own President Trump, Vice President Pence and the Republicans in congress. Ganz had zero foreign policy experience, and neither did Lapid.
I doubt this doesn’t change a few things. But since Mahmoud Abbas has already said no to anything Trump comes up with, it’s probably a dead issue.
Second, the recent anti-semitism coming from almost every Democrat running for president in 2020 and those of anti-semitic Democrat members of congress is going to be one more issue to divide things. Thanks mostly to Barack Hussein Obama, this stuff is now out in the open as the Democrat Party follows the trend set by the UK’s Labour Party. The only Democrat presidential hopeful to go to AIPAC’s convention was Cory Booker, who actually has a Jewish constituency in New Jersey. The rest boycotted it. I expect this to continue as Israel haters like Beto O’Rourke, Bernie Sanders and Pete Buttigieg among others fight for the nomination. Buttigieg in particular is the craftiest of the three, masking his contempt for Israel by attacking Netanyahu and thus claiming that attacking Israel’s democratic choice ‘isn’t anti-semitism’ and pushing for that same old two state nonsense. I wonder if Buttigieg knows hoow gays are treated in ‘Palestine?’
American Jews are going to become more divided…until they wake up. For many Jews in the past, especially those closest in age to the Holocaust, Israel was a major issue. It isn’t anymore for a significant number of today’s Jews, for various reasons.
There are a number of things responsible for the change. As Israel went from a socialist, left leaning country to a more capitalist, nationalist state with a strong military most Israelis not only took pride in but served in it, many Jews who already leaned hard to the Left became estranged.
A large part of this increasing trend was the coverage Israel received from the media here in America. The New York Times and the alphabet networks were especially dishonest and repugnant, as was the BBC in Britain. Aside from demonizing Israel, they also sold the ‘Palestinian’ cause to these young Jews with the preconceived script of the Arab David versus the Israeli Goliath…carefully avoiding the vicious attacks on ‘Goliath.’ They also popularized the myth of Israel as ‘occupier’ and an ‘apartheid state’ committing ‘war crimes.’ This was the strategy of the Big Lie on steroids.
On universities where the Left had control (that is, most of them) Jewish students were made to feel uncomfortable by both radical professors and anti-Israel student groups. A great number of Mid East studies Departments were essentially bought by the Saudis for the express purpose of giving an academic luster to the ‘anti-zionist ‘ agenda. This propaganda was especially well received by a number of black and other minority students, adding pressure to Jews to virtue signal by damning Israel and become part of the in crowd.
Finally, the nomination of Barack Hussein Obama served as a test for those ‘good Jews’ to virtue signal and vote for the first black president, even to the point of ignoring his many anti-semitic and anti-Israel mentors. His establishing J Street with the financial backing of anti-Israel billionaire George Soros gave many of these Jews a banner to march under to pretend they were pro-peace no matter how many of their fellow Jews the ‘Palestinians’ brutally murdered. These Jews simply made a choice – Obama over Israel. Not even Obama’s appeasement of the genocidal Iranian regime made any difference. Many of them have made the same choice today…the resistance and the newly anti-Israel Democrat Party over pro-Israel President Trump. Will they continue to make that ultimately self hating and suicidal error? Time will tell. In the UK, it took awhile before Britain’s Jews awoke to what Labour had become and by then it was pretty much too late.
Interestingly enough, as a number of young American Jews go left, associate themselves with the increasingly anti-Israel Democrat Party and distance themselves from Israel and religious observance, their contemporaries in Israel are doing exactly the reverse, getting closer to religion and moving right politically.
There’s a reason for that.
While these young Israelis were too young to experience the signing of Oslo Accords in 1993 and 1995, these younger Israelis lots of them religiously observant to some degree, grew up with the consequences. They grew up with the so-called Second Intifada, which began in September 2000. they saw their friends and contemporaries murdered by Israel’s ‘peace partners and saw the government doing little about it. They went to the funerals of their friends murdered by homicide bombers and in many case experienced them firsthand, even though they survived.
Trust me, when you experience something like that and what it looks like, sounds like and smells like, it changes your entire perspective about ‘land for peace’ and ‘the two state solution.’ When you see parents sobbing over their dead children, when you see grown men in tears picking up their dead bodies while you can actually hear the ‘Palestinians’ celebrating this in the distance, all the rhetoric you’ve been fed by left wing politicians, the media and what’s known as the international community is revealed as the horse manure it really is. You never forget. Never.
The Israeli Left is essentially history now. The most Netanyahu’s new government is going to allow is a small enclave in Area A where the majority of Arabs live, a place where they lack statehood but can run their lives domestically. and frankly, I wouldn’t even give them that much. A ‘Palestinian’ enclave would simply be a cancer in an otherwise healthy area. Most of these people are Jordanian citizens, including Mahmoud Abbas. There’s no reason they shouldn’t return there, where they can mouth their hatred of Jews to their heart’s content without hurting anyone but themselves.
Israel has finally gotten out of it’s defensive crouch. There won’t be any more cringing over the latest nonsense from the UN or questioning over the ownership of the land from the river to the sea, land not only promised to the Jews by the Almighty but by the League of Nations Palestine mandate, its reaffirmation by Article 80 of the UN Charter and the San Remo accords that even the Arabs agreed to. It’s time to end this.

Movies are the most powerful tools of social and political propaganda the world has ever known. Consider: America wins wars only when Hollywood supports the conflict and puts itself squarely behind America’s efforts. During World War II, every studio in Hollywood backed the Allied effort against the Axis. Hollywood stars enlisted for active duty, raised money for war bonds, and the studios produced films that went all out for freedom and liberty against the tyranny of Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan. Hollywood played a huge role in America’s victory.
Contrast Vietnam. Hollywood, overwhelmingly anti-war, produced a series of movies that undermined the American effort against the spread of communism in Southeast Asia. Hollywood knew that with a few clever, glossy films (most notably “Coming Home” (’78), starring Jane Fonda and Jon Voight) and their carefully-manufactured anti-war narratives, it could undermine American foreign policy and turn heroic GIs into psychotic baby-killers. America lost Vietnam.
In our times, Hollywood produced several high profile movies that argued against America’s military conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. Not one of the films was profitable, but the damage was done. America withdrew from both fronts. IslamoNazis filled the vacuum — and Hollywood will never take notice or assume any responsibility for the chaos and mass murder it helped to create.
Intertitle:Movies Are a Moral Landscape
The Battle of Algiers, (1965) directed by Gillo Pontecorvo, a perennial favorite on college campuses, is hailed as a modern classic. Certainly the skillful use of black & white cinema verite is highly effective, making the viewer feel as if he’s been plunged into the heart of the Algerian maelstrom. The scenes of torture and terror are stomach churning. The score, by the great Ennio Morricone with some input by the director, is one of the most rousing and effective in film history. The film cleverly gives the impression of giving a balanced view of the conflict, with a particularly poignant scene where a cafe filled with French Algerians is bombed. But let’s be clear, the film is a work of leftist propaganda that seamlessly justifies Islamic terror by proposing that the French were so brutal that the Algerians had no choice but to resort to unrestrained terror.
Director Gillo Pontecorvo was an assimilated Italian Jew from a wealthy family. But like so many secular Jews, he was drawn to the fanatic cult of Communism. Das Kapital in place of Torah. The Battle of Algiers is Pontecorvo’s penultimate work of cinematic propaganda.
Let’s examine the real Battle of Algiers, free from the romantic imagery presented by Pontecorvo where Islamic terrorists are accorded heroic and mythic status. In truth, they were a bunch of sharia-spouting thugs, oppressors of women, and, of course, virulent Jew haters. In short: bloodthirsty IslamoNazis.
It is the definitive account of one of the dirtiest colonial war of the 20th century. We tend to think of the French as a bunch of cowards and collaborators, their tanks welded into reverse gear. But in Algeria the French were, at first, determined and unbelievably ferocious. Once the Algerians revolted, the French army and especially the French Foreign Legion—whose ranks included numerous German POW volunteers, plus several Nazi war criminals escaping persecution—followed a scorched earth policy.
In 1954, the Legion was deployed from Indochina to Algeria. The shock and humiliation of the defeat at Dien Bien Phu was fresh in the minds of the proud Legionnaires and they were determined to erase that shameful episode. But the Legion were not the only troops ready to sacrifice and claim victory. As Horne writes:
“…the [French] army, incorporating Sengalese units legendary for their ferocity, subjected suspected Muslim villages to systematic ratissage–literally a ‘raking over’, a time-honored word for pacifying operations. This involved a number of summary executions. Of the less accessible mechtas, or Muslim villages, more than forty were bombed by Douglas dive-bombers…”
And this was just the opening salvo of the battle. It got worse. Much worse. The level of ferocity, on both sides, almost unimaginable.
Interpolation: Because Yours Truly Sees Connections Between Past & Present
The Palestinians are a lucky people because their enemies are Jews. Any other foe, especially other Arabs, would have wiped them off the face of the earth a long time ago.
In February 1982 the Syrian regime, feeling threatened by opponents of the Assad family and the Alawite minority to which the Assad clan belongs, committed a massacre of over 25,000 men, women and children in the town of Hama, where opposition was centered. Scores of young girls were gang-raped by the Syrian soldiers and then shot in the public bathroom ‘Hamam Alsadia.’ The current slaughter in the state formerly known as Syria can be seen as continuation of Hama with Iran and Russia throwing in to protect Assad.
If Israel is foolish enough to surrender Judea and Samaria to the Palestinians, as she did with Gaza, then Jordan will have to square off against ISIS, Hamas, Hizbullah, Al-Qaeda, the Muslim Brotherhood and thanks to Obama and the Democrat party, a nuclear capable Iran. These and other sharia-yearning barbarians will rush into the vacuum. The IslamoNazis will certainly move to overthrow the detested Hashemite Kingdom. For some Arabs, this will be payback for the 1970 Black September.
If that happens, buckle up for some old fashioned blood-letting. You can bet that the Jordanians will not use targeted assassinations like the Israelis. There will be mountains of Arab Muslim corpses choking the River Jordan. Or the conflict will spell the end of the Jordanian state—Trans-Jordan was created by Winston Churchill—and you can just say, “Howdy” to a completely insane Iranian proxy.
The leaders of the Algerian revolt kept telling their cadres to have patience. Democracies, they lectured, cannot endure long wars. Democracies have a built-in weakness: elections. And wars are bad for elections. Democracies demand immediate results.
“We can hang on forever,” Ahmed Ben Bella explained to his men, “we can fight and fight, whereas democracies like France have to go to their citizens and explain why their men are dying. And sooner or later, they will grow sick of it. Democracies are inherently weak for they have no patience.”
This theme rises again and again in Horne’s invaluable book, and though the French fought in Algeria for eight long and bloody years, Ben Bella was right. In fact, the Battle of Algiers almost brought revolution to the streets of France, and mutiny in the French army.
The Algerian insurgents were, at the beginning, a mix of westernized intellectuals and Muslim fundamentalists, but soon enough the Islamic jihadists took control. Simply put, they were merciless, willing to commit the kind of atrocities that placed them in the vanguard.
It is vital to understand that what is going on in Syria, Iraq, Somalia, Kenya, Afghanistan, Yemen, Pakistan, Indonesia, the Philippines, Sweden, France, Belgium, Spain, the Netherlands, Germany, England, Israel and now America, is part of an old and reliable guerrilla playbook. If you don’t understand Islamic terror and it’s parallel political stages (which includes mass migration) then you are fated to be crushed beneath the wheels of the Islamic fascists. There is nothing improvised or accidental about the daily homicides by IslamoNazis across the globe. It is a carefully constructed Islamist tactic pioneered and made holy by Muhammed, Islam’s founder, that is part of a grand strategy aimed at the soft heart of non Muslim societies.
Algiers is where the IslamoNazis first perfected terror.
The strategy for modern terrorism was defined by the Brazilian guerrilla leader, Carlos Marighela, before he was hunted down and killed:
“It is necessary to turn political crisis into armed conflict by performing violent actions that will force those in power to transform the political situation of the country into a military situation. That will alienate the masses, who, from then on, will revolt against the army and the police and blame them for this state of things.”
Marighela’s philosophy is simple and effective: using terrorism will inevitably provoke the forces of law and order to strike back with overwhelming force and repression thereby alienating the hitherto uncommitted native population. The idea is to polarize the situation into two extreme camps and make impossible any dialogue of compromise by eradicating the soft center.
“The government can only intensify its repression thus making the life of its citizens harder than ever… The population will refuse to collaborate with the authorities, so that the latter will find the only solution to their problems lies in having recourse to the actual physical liquidation of their opponents. The political situation of the country will become a military situation…”
It was along this simple but effective doctrine that the Algerians started their war against civilians—without mercy.
The opening attack came in a small hot place called Philippeville.
Philippeville was a small mining center of about 130 French Algerians, thepieds-noirs, and about 2,000 Muslims, who for years had coexisted amicably. Apparently, labor relations were extremely good with a rare degree of equality and cooperation between Muslim and European.
It appears that the whole Muslim community was aware of what was about to happen on August 20, 1955. A number of Muslim families even left town in advance of the coming massacre.
But no one warned the French Algerians.
Shortly before noon, four groups of fifteen to twenty Muslim men attacked the village, taking it completely by surprise. They were led by Muslim mineworkers who knew each house and their neighbors. Intimately.
Telegraph lines were cut, the emergency radio transmitter was found to be “out of order” and the village constable who was equipped with warning rockets had “disappeared.”
The Muslim attackers went from house to house, slaughtering all the European occupants: men, women, children, and infants. All the time egged on by Muslim women with their eerie ululations. From the Mosque came exhortations to slit the throats of women and their nurses in the cause of jihad.
It was not until two o’clock in the afternoon that a French Para unit managed to reach the town. An appalling sight greeted them. In houses literally washed with blood, European mothers were discovered with their throats slit and their bellies slashed open by billhooks. Children had suffered the same fate. Infants had had their brains dashed against the wall. A young mother was disemboweled, her five-day old baby slashed to death and replaced in her open womb.
Four entire families had been wiped out to the last member; only six who had barricaded themselves in a house in the center of the village and had held out with sporting rifles and revolvers had survived.
Men returning from the mines had been ambushed in their cars and hacked to pieces. Altogether thirty-seven Europeans had died, including ten children under fifteen, and another thirteen had been left for dead.
Not surprisingly, Pontecorvo did not include the Philippeville massacre in his film. Dramatically, it would have shredded his carefully constructed thesis.
According to Horne, the reaction of the French army was immediate. Out in the streets they found:
“…bodies literally strewed the town. The Arab children, wild with enthusiasm–to them it was a great holiday–rushed about yelling among the grown-ups. They finished off the dying. In one alley we found two of them kicking in an old woman’s head. We had to kill them on the spot: they were crazed…”
The reprisals were severe. The Algerians claim that as many as 12,000 were killed by the French. The French claim, 1,273. We will never know the truth.
But the Philippeville Massacre had its intended impact. The polarizing effect of which Marighela spoke immediately took place. The Battle of Algiers went on for eight long bloody years. The brutality on both sides was unspeakable for there was a burning river of blood between the French and the Algerians after Philippeville.

Iran may have received an additional $33.6 billion in secret cash and gold payments facilitated by the Obama administration between 2014 and 2016, according to testimony provided before Congress by an expert on last summer’s nuclear agreement with Iran.
Between January 2014 and July 2015, when the Obama administration was hammering out the final details of the nuclear accord, Iran was paid $700 million every month from funds that had previously been frozen by U.S. sanctions.
A total of $11.9 billion was ultimately paid to Iran, but the details surrounding these payments remain shrouded in mystery, according to Mark Dubowitz, executive director at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies.
In total, “Iran may have received as much as $33.6 billion in cash or in gold and other precious metals,” Dubowitz disclosed.
Most or all of this money will be spent on terrorism and Iran’s nuclear weapons program.
Turkey’s leader Tayyip Erdoğan has devoted some impassioned rhetoric to fighting ISIS, but until now that pretty much summed up Turkey’s contribution…which makes sense if you think about it as I pointed out previously.
What Erdoğan has concentrated his military on is not ISIS but the Kurds, a U.S. ally and so far the most effective force on the ground battling ISIS.
On August 24th the Turkish military invaded Northern Syria. They used a contingent of 1,500 Turkish sponsored “Syrian rebels”, aka Islamist jihadis from all over the world, accompanied by some Turkish special forces and twenty tanks to capture the city Jarablus at the Turkish-Syrian border. There’s no question that this was pre-arranged in advance. ISIS moved all of its fighters and their families out of the city, and not a single shot was fired. After the ‘victory’ the Turkish flag was raised.
There was a particularly horrendous event in Gazientep, Turkey last night when a suicide bomb took the lives of 50 people at a wedding party and injured over 100 more. The suicide bomber involved was a young boy aged between 12-14 and the bomb was detonated electronically, probably by a throw away cell phone.
The screen shot above was from a video posted by one of the guests, who happened to have their phone out and pointed in the direction of the explosion at the exact moment of the blast. The video’s available on Live Leak, but I see no reason to post it here.
The Turkish government was quick to blame ISIS. According to Turkey’s leader Tayyip Erdoğan. “all the evidence points to ISIS.”
What that evidence consists of hasn’t been shared, nor, if things go as usual in today’s Turkey, will it ever be.
But was it ISIS who pulled this off?
Certainly they’re more than capable of it. But were they actually the ones who did this bombing? Let’s look at a few interesting facts.
The American People are a compassionate people, charitable and tolerant, and always ready to embrace the challenges the world sets before us (at least eventually). This Syrian Refuge crisis, however, has broken upon a much less open America, much less worried about the poor and the hungry and the sick. It infuriates me that this reality has become accepted as a stain upon our compassion and our systemic American values. What we are witnessing is not intolerance or bigotry, selfishness or greed; but a righteous indignation toward to a government that has sold us out at every turn, has torn our Constitution asunder, and spit upon the virtue, the sovereignty, and the dignity of the American Citizen.
Americans have always had a right to great pride and confidence – a pride and confidence frayed by nearly two decades of abuse and decline. A free and prosperous people are the most likely to demonstrate the most compassion and charity, for they have the most to give and no reason to fear giving it; but that is no longer the America we live in today. Our governments no longer enforce our immigration laws. Our corporations are bringing in immigrants on work visas to be trained by US citizens for a couple months before those citizens are on the street looking for work. Our wages aren’t going up and our economy isn’t growing. In fact, to find silver linings in our economic circumstances, one must (despite how silly it is) include statistics comprised of public sector jobs which do not produce wealth or capital, but exhaust it.
Islamists – and let me define “Islamist” (an individual who believes that Islam is the only true religion and that non-believers should either be subject to Islamic Law or killed) – are a different kind of enemy. They do not wear a uniform to battle. You’re shopping at Food Lion and seconds later you’re being torn apart by shrapnel from a suicide bomber’s vest. You’re celebrating the New Year in Times Square and someone drops a vile of biological weaponry. You’re praying in a Temple or shopping in a mall and then bullets, screams, and darkness. That so far, all we’ve faced are a few failed bombings, a few successful ones, a couple homicidal rampages, and planes flying into buildings, does not discount the crucification, rape, beheading, hotel massacres, concert massacres, and suicide bombings experienced throughout the rest of the world.
Have our governments given us reason to feel secure? Not even a little bit. They are great at taking away our liberty, but poor at protecting us from harm.
I am a Christian – and because I am, my heart breaks for those living in the Middle East, for the people in Syria, in Iraq, Iran, North Korea, Saudi Arabia, Germany, China, Russia, and Paris, France. I want to help them and to show them love. I want a government I could entrust with that very charge and responsibility. I want a government that would work tirelessly and methodically to help orphans and widows and cripples – victims all of the horrible ideological war taking place in the Middle East. I want to trust that this government would also desire, with the same passion as the American People, to protect these very victims from their tormentors, from the Islamists, by ensuring that not one of them was given safe passage to our land.
Yet, such a government does not exist in America. We live in a country where our government is as likely to harm us as they are to protect us.
It’s not the victims of ideology and religion in the Middle East we’re afraid of. It’s our government and their reckless irresponsibility. We do not trust our government, nor do we even have faith in their good intentions. I would venture to say, that every person you’ve heard proclaiming that they do not want these Syrian Refugees would change their tune in an instant if they believed, for one second, our Government could be entrusted with the responsibility of caring for the widows, orphans, and injured who have suffered under the Islamist tyranny in the Middle East, while still protecting We The People.
My heart breaks for these people, but there is so very little I can do. I live in a country ruled by leaders that have allowed gangs and criminals to cross our borders. We catch them and release them. We let immigrants overstay their visa’s – a policy which enabled blood-thirsty Islamists to slaughter over 3,000 Americans on September 11th. Did they learn their lesson? Did anything change?
No. We love the people of the world. We do not trust our government. We care about the oppressed, yet we are increasingly oppressed ourselves. I’m opened minded to the arguments and the debate with regard to these Syrian Immigrants, but let no one proclaim that those opposed are opposed out of malicious intent, or cruelty, or bigotry, or intolerance. That’s a lie; and a disgraceful one at that.
