CNN is busy rewriting history to blame Trump for the riots

The polls show that the public hates the “mostly peaceful” riots, so CNN published a deeply dishonest “article” blaming Trump for the riots.

On May 25, George Floyd, an overweight, violent ex-felon with serious heart disease, who took over three times the lethal dose of fentanyl, along with some other drugs, managed to die on camera while under police control. Floyd was turned into a saint, complete with halo. The Black Lives Matter had found its next martyr and, despite the lockdown, leftists took to the street.

Some of the protests were indeed marches, with only a few peculiarities:

First, the same Democrat media members and politicians who had insisted (and, indeed, continue to insist) that Americans had to remain under house arrest because of a virus, said that mass protests were perfectly okay.

Second, very few of the protesters were actually black. The majority were extremely woke whites, especially angry, neurotic white women.

Third, although the protesters had as one of their core tenets a demand that police should be defunded across America, whenever something went wrong, they wanted the police.

Fourth, all the protests happened in Democrat-run cities that were almost (although not quite) always located in Democrat-run states.

Fifth, when the protests turned violent, the Democrat politicians in charge refused to criticize the protests, saying instead that they were peaceful, and also refused to imprison the protesters, churning them through the system and spitting them out within 24 hours of any arrests.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, all over America, the protests quickly turned violent. Minneapolis lost more than 1,500 buildings, with most of the damage being done to black-owned businesses. Those stores that stood were looted of everything, including the stuff that was nailed down. From there, the mobs spread. From Chicago to Los Angeles to Charleston and everywhere in between, mobs took to the streets, tearing down statues, defacing buildings with ugly graffiti, burning buildings, and looting stores.

In Washington, D.C., the mob tried to break into the White House and also set a historic church on fire. In Seattle, the mob took over six square blogs and created a deadly and destructive autonomous zone. And in Portland, the mob spent weeks attacking a federal courthouse. They tried repeatedly to set it on fire, tried to blind the federal agents who protected the courthouse and attacked the courthouse and the agents with firecrackers, rockets, rocks, bottles filled with ice, and whatever else would cause maximum damage. When federal agents clearly identified as such arrested people, the mob, the media, and the local government screamed that these were Stasi tactics.

Portland’s Mayor Wheeler and Oregon’s Governor Brown, both Democrats, insisted that, if that the problem wasn’t the protesters, who often self-identified as Antifa or BLM, but the presence of federal agents. Merely by being, apparently, the agents sent Portland’s leftist protesters into an uncontrollable rage that could only be slaked through violence. After sixty days, the feds withdrew.

Had Wheeler and Brown been correct, with the federal withdrawal, peace should have returned. It didn’t. Instead, the mob became only more violent, only now it turned its nihilistic wrath on the Portland police, going so far as trying to burn the police alive in a building.

Despite the bloodshed, the death, and the destruction, right up until last week, Democrats and other leftists insisted that what conservatives call “riots” were, in fact, “peaceful protests.” Here are a handful of videos making that point.

Here’s what Biden said in July:

And here’s the clever campaign video showing the lie:

Tennessee Democrat, John DeBerry Jr. castigated his own party for the pretense that the protests are peaceful:

During their convention, the Democrats did not once mention the violence on the streets, nor did the words BLM or Antifa pass anyone’s lips

What changed all this was the polling after the leftists tried to burn little Kenosha, WI, to the ground. They did this because police were called to arrest wanted rapist who fought with them, had a knife, didn’t respond to tasering, and then tried to reach into his car for a weapon. Now, BLM and leftist all over America (especially basketball player) are celebrating a violent man who repeatedly raped a woman. That’s the heart of the left. In 2017, it’s #MeToo and Believe All Women. In 2020, it’s “hey, this rapist is a martyr. Let’s burn up a city in his honor.”

Here’s how Kenosha people really feel about Trump:

We don’t have to guess about the post-Kenosha polling. Don Lemon stated the truth in a rare moment of unfiltered honesty:

With lock-stepped, statist precision, the Democrats in the media and in political positions turned on a dime. Suddenly, Biden was no longer talking about peaceful protest. Instead, in one of the most dishonest speeches in American political history, he accused Trump and an imaginary horde of right-wing militias of causing the violence in America. As was the case at the convention, the words Antifa and BLM never passed his lips.

CNN, which was at the forefront of the “peaceful protest” meme, has now published a hysterical screed that is, if possible, even more dishonest than Biden’s speech. Let’s start with the title: “Trump’s depraved plan to try to win reelection.”

Over the years of blogging, I have read many media articles that played with the truth or presented an alternative view of facts. In my entire life, though, I have never seen anything like this. The author, Frida Ghitis, a former producer and correspondent for CNN who also writes for the Washington Post, is delusional. Or if she’s not delusional, she’s evil, for only an evil person could lie with such fervor and aplomb.

The remainder of this post fisks her article. There’s a lot of dishonest filler, which I’ll ignore. I’m just going to go for her purported “facts,” each and every one of which is a lie or something that mutilates a small core of truth:

That Trump wants chaos and mayhem is not a secret. It has been confirmed repeatedly by his team. In one of her last Fox News appearances, his now-former strategist Kellyanne Conway confirmed what we all knew: “The more chaos, anarchy and vandalism reigns, the better it is for the very clear choice on who’s best on public safety and law and order,” she said. Lara Trump, daughter-in-law and campaign adviser, later told Fox that the violence is bringing voters to Trump.

Breitbart debunked this. I’ll just summarize. Pete Buttigieg was one of the first to blame Trump for the violence. When Conway appeared on Fox and Friends, someone asked her about this claim. Conway referred to this video, where the speaker is obviously a Democrat furious that the mob’s violence will undoubtedly push people into Trump’s camp:

When Conway spoke the quoted words, she was echoing what that business owner said, which is that sane people understand that the Democrats are in the grip of a violent impulse and that they will pull back in revulsion and vote for Trump. That’s what the polls showed and that’s why Lemon told people to chill. Lara Trump made exactly the same point.

In other words, Ghitis withheld information from her readers in order to tell a bald-faced lie.

His Democratic rival, former Vice President Joe Biden, pushed back on Monday, calling Trump a “toxic presence.”

“You know me,” Biden said, “Do I look like a radical socialist with a soft spot for rioters?” vowing he will work for “safe America, safe from Covid, safe from crime and looting, safe from racially motivated violence.”

It’s Biden’s opinion that Trump is toxic. An equally valid — hey, way more valid — view is that the left is making the narcissist’s argument: I can instigate anything I want, whether it’s violence, censorship, tribalism, etc. If you take it, all is good; if you push back against my illegal or immoral efforts, you are the violent, toxic person.

As for Biden, he’s a moron, an opportunist, and a corrupt politician. He’s also senile and desperate to win, making him a sock puppet for the radical leftists who now control the Democrat party.

The response was needed because Trump is trying to blame the Democrats as he stokes chaos.

That is why he is insisting on going to Kenosha where an apparent supporter faces homicide charges for the killing of anti-racism protesters. Democratic Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers is pleading with the President to stay away because he knows Trump’s presence there can be explosive.

The chaos is already here. What is Trump supposed to be stoking? It was the Democrats who encouraged their shock troops for three solid months.

Ghitis lacks even the minimal honesty necessary to acknowledge that Kyle Rittenhouse has a superb self-defense claim. Even the New York Times was honest enough to put together a timeline based on videos that showed that Rittenhouse was attacked when he tried to put out a dumpster fire, that he fired his first shots only in self-defense, that he was then again attacked with an intention to kill, and again shot only in self-defense. Rittenhouse’s weapon control was superb because he hit only those who were trying to kill him

As for Governor Evers who let this madness happen, he is pleading with Trump to stay away because (a) he’s afraid people will be happy to see Trump and (b) it looks awful for Trump to be shown against the backdrop of an essentially war-ravaged American city, while Biden cowers in his basement.

The visit and idea that Trump is better for public safety is all a sham, of course, for many reasons. First, Trump is not better on law and order. Consider how many of his associates have been indicted and convicted. When it comes to street violence, this is occurring on his watch. The President who vowed “American carnage” was stopping with his inauguration, has ushered in and stoked violence and divisions.

This is Trump’s America. He owns the violence.

The first sentences make up a nonsensical non sequitur. Even assuming solely for the sake of argument that the Democrats’ unrelenting attacks against Trump, in the leftist New York court system, in the leftist federal court system, or in the House, had any validity, that is a different animal from whether a president is pushing for law and order on American streets. Unlike Obama who ignored whatever federal laws he didn’t like, one of the things Americans value in Trump is that he believes in the law as written and believes in applying it equally to all citizens. The left cannot point to a single law that Trump, in his role as America’s chief executive, has violated.

As for that “American carnage,” what Trump promised in his inauguration speech was that he would stop the disastrous policies of the Obama administration:

But for too many of our citizens, a different reality exists: Mothers and children trapped in poverty in our inner cities; rusted-out factories scattered like tombstones across the landscape of our nation; an education system, flush with cash, but which leaves our young and beautiful students deprived of knowledge; and the crime and gangs and drugs that have stolen too many lives and robbed our country of so much unrealized potential.

This American carnage stops right here and stops right now.

We are one nation – and their pain is our pain. Their dreams are our dreams; and their success will be our success. We share one heart, one home, and one glorious destiny.

The oath of office I take today is an oath of allegiance to all Americans.

Again, Ghitis lied spectacularly by writing statements that lacked the proper context. Here’s Ghitis again:

Still, he wants Americans to blame Democratic governors and mayors — and fear that Biden will make it worse. But it is Trump and his supporters who bear much of the responsibility for turning mostly peaceful anti-racism protests into battlegrounds. And the strife is not just continuing, it is intensifying; becoming bloodier, deadlier and riskier for the nation.

Democrat protesters in Democrat-run cities, with Democrat mayors and prosecutors who refuse to arrest or even stop them, in Democrat states, with Democrat governors who have refused to augment their resources with federal help. But it’s all Trump’s fault. Only a madwoman or an evil one could write this and believe it.

Desperate to win reelection amid the worst economic collapse since the Great Depression and the worst public health catastrophe in a hundred years, Trump is playing with fire. How far he will go is anyone’s guess. Some fear America could unravel into civil war. But that’s something no one — save the most extreme of the extremists — wants to see.

The leftists cannot point to a single time in the first five months of the COVID craziness that Trump did not follow Fauci’s advice, no matter how awful that advice was. The Democrats pushed the lockdown as hard as they could. One has to believe that they were motivated by more than blind fear. At a certain point, they must have realized that the lockdown would trash the economy, which was Trump’s strongest card going into the election. Having trashed the economy, they then blamed Trump for its collapse.

As for the “public health catastrophe,” we know a few things: Lockdown or not, most states and nations have exactly the same virus curve. Like an earthquake, it hits hard, and then has aftershocks, going up and down until the disease is integrated into a society like all other coronaviruses.

The real carnage was from those states that forced sick people into nursing homes, turning them into abbatoirs. The elderly are less than 4% of the population, but the Democrat governors turned them into around 40% of the deaths. (I’m not looking at statistics now. I’m going by memory for these numbers, but I think I’m close.)

Whether or not they support Biden, it’s hard to believe many Americans disagree with Biden’s plea, “We must not become a country at war with ourselves; a country that accepts the killing of fellow Americans who do not agree with you.”

Biden’s words are too little too late. They come, not from a commitment to America’s well-being, but because of poll testing. They’re good words but from an unreliable source.

Most Americans are horrified by the violence. I have no polls to prove that. But I know most, including most Trump supporters, don’t want deadly clashes between Americans who have different political opinions. Most Americans, Democrats or Republicans, don’t want to see looting, arson or vandalism, and certainly not killings.

Really? Most Americans? Not Chris Cuomo:

Leftists reveled in the violence when they thought it would hurt Trump. They backed off from that reveling only when polls showed otherwise.

Remember the arson and destruction in Minneapolis after police killed George Floyd? A video went viral showing a black-clad man with an umbrella in one hand and a hammer in another, smashing windows.

Minneapolis police said he was suspected of white supremacist ties and was trying to incite rioting. He succeeded. “Until the actions of…’Umbrella Man,'” police said, “the protests had been relatively peaceful.”

Did you know that no one has ever found “umbrella man”? The above is all speculation. But even assuming, once again solely for the sake of argument, that umbrella man started it, all over America, Antifa and BLM have been finishing it.

In the chaos, Trump found a possible path to reelection. He sent federal forces to Portland, where their presence inflamed the protests. The mayor implored Trump to remove them. When he finally did, Portland turned much quieter until this past weekend.

No, it didn’t turn much quieter. Three weeks ago, long after the federal agents left, rioters set a police station on fire. Last week (that is, before this past weekend), they used rebar and quick-dry cement to try to burn police alive in a station. Those are just two examples of dozens or even hundreds. If Ghitis had access to actual news, rather than CNN, she would have known that the mob accelerated their activities.

But by then, Trump’s game plan was already underway. The White House wanted to amplify and publicize the strife as much as possible, according to officials. “It was about getting viral online content,” an administration official admitted to the Washington Post.

Yeah, Trump was no fool. He couldn’t go into states with the governors’ say-so, so he sat back and watched, and America watched with him, as leftist cities self-immolated.

Trump’s most radical supporters seemed to also understand the strategy and were on the case. The ultra-extremist Boogaloo members, with their trademark Hawaiian shirts and assault rifles, popped up across the country. Violence was all too predictable.

Interestingly, unlike the Antifa and BLM rioters, while these “ultra-extremist” Boogaloo members may have shown up, they didn’t attack anyone, burn anything, loot any place, or kill anybody. Go figure….

Most anti-racism protests and protesters are peaceful. Not all are. Trump backers, with fervid encouragement from the White House, from Fox News and from prominent voices in the far right, are doing everything in their power to paint protesters as the enemy. Even the Republican convention gave a prominent spot to armed civilians made famous by waving their weapons at protesters.

Those armed civilians were the McCloskeys who used their legal weapons (one of which couldn’t even fire) to warn off hundreds of people who broke down a fence to get to the McCloskeys’ property and, as they walked by, threatened the McCloskeys with rape and murder. Thankfully, we have a Second Amendment, because the “defund police” mentality and the sheer volume of violent protests, meant the McCloskeys were on their own.

Last week, when a 17-year-old allegedly killed two protesters in Kenosha, the far-right propaganda machine rushed to support the accused. Tucker Carlson seemed to justify him on his show saying, “How shocked are we that 17-year-olds with rifles decided they had to maintain order when no one else would?”

See my Rittenhouse discussion, above.

Ann Coulter, in a deleted tweet, said she’d back the teen for president. On Monday, Trump refused to condemn the killings, instead seeming to try to defend the 17-year-old, saying he was being “very violently attacked.”

Trump was wise. He learned what happens when presidents give their opinions about cases. When Charles Manson was being tried for the Helter Skelter murders, Nixon opined that he was guilty. Manson’s defense lawyer promptly moved for a mistrial on the ground that it was now impossible to find an impartial jury. Trump knows better than to be accused of tainting a case.

On CNN, Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wisconsin) also refused to outright condemn the killing. “It’s a tragedy,” he told Dana Bash. She insisted, “It is a tragedy, but do you condemn it?” A morally bereft Johnson squirmed, repeating that the situation was a “tragedy” before saying that he “condemn[s] it all.” Maybe he was scared of being insulted by Trump.

Ron Johnson learned the same message. Both Trump and Johnson also know that the mainstream media always gets the story wrong in the first instance. It’s better to keep quiet while facts develop than to say something that has to be or, worse, can’t be walked back.

When a caravan of armed Trump supporters headed to Portland this weekend, undoubtedly emboldened by praise for the Kenosha murder suspect, more death was in the cards.

Videos showed the extremists driving their trucks into pedestrian protesters, spraying mace into their faces. Trump encouraged them on Twitter, “Great Patriots!”

Here’s that narcissism again. We can do it and it’s not violent, no matter the death or destruction in our wake. But if you stand up to us, you have magically created violence and it’s all your fault.

In the clashes, one apparent member of the pro-Trump group was killed. Police and witnesses haven’t said what exactly happened.

Witnesses are talking. As of now, the available evidence shows that BLM hunted Danielson down and that one of their members, with a BLM tattoo on his neck who’d already been arrested and released for having an illegal weapon, shot him in cold blood. Afterward, they partied.

Unethical campaign strategies are nothing new. But this is certainly one of the most depraved, most dangerous electoral strategies in memory. This is not what most Americans want. It’s not what most Republicans or Democrats want. It’s what Trump, running out of arguments for reelection, has deliberately created.

CNN is trying to start a civil war. This article is grounds for charges of sedition. Ghitis is lucky that there’s a Constitution that protects her right to be stupid, evil, hate-filled, and anti-American.

Today is the day to talk about the blacks who didn’t riot

The media keeps the focus on blacks whom leftists have taught to hate. In America, though, there are probably more blacks who don’t hate. Here are 3 of them.

I went to the gun store again today, which is always a pleasant way to pass time. (By the way, thanks to all of you for your helpful ideas about which guns to buy.) Having handled about a dozen semi-automatics and test-fired the top three candidates, I think I’m going to get a Ruger because it fits my hands. I also stocked up on ammo. Better to have it when you don’t need it, than to need it an not have it.

As always, I find gun stores and ranges delightful places to be. The employees are friendly and helpful — and so are the other shoppers. If you say “Hi, how’s your day?” to a gun store shopper, they’ll stop and answer and you’ll have a nice conversation. Which gets me to my first story about the blacks who didn’t riot.

Regarding racism, my friend and I were standing in line outside the store (stores here are open but they have to limit the number of customers), when a black man came to stand in line behind us. I immediately said hello to him and asked him how his day was going. He responded that his day was great and asked us how ours was going. A little civil chit-chat followed.

Then, bless him, this young man went out of his way to assure us that he was not someone who hated us because of our skin color. He didn’t say so directly. Instead, he told us that it’s great to have guns and that people here have them because “We’re all in this together.” Those stupid rioters, he said, they burned a car and made some mess, but they’re not who we are.

It was an utterly endearing thing to do, and further conversation revealed that he was as nice as his first instincts showed him to be. But his kind gesture also made us aware of how much the world has changed. Once upon a time, nice white people hastened to assure black people not to worry. Now it’s the other way around. I want to us all, black, white, Hispanic, Asian, blue, green, purple, to live in a world in which such assurances are unnecessary, but I am so grateful to those who realize we’re not in that world yet and who make the effort to ensure that their own little patch of earth is a friendly place.

Here’s another black woman who didn’t riot:

The amazing woman in this video is Bevelyn Beatty, a preacher woman who journeyed to CHAZ to spread the gospel. When you hear her speak to those white leftists about the gospel of the Republican party and the anti-gospel of the Democrat party, it’s powerful stuff, especially because she comes to them from a place of love, not anger:

I’m not about to convert to Christianity because of her — I’m good with my Jewishness — but I deeply admire that spirit. Ryan Bomberger, an adopted black man who dedicates his energies to the pro-Life movement, wrote an incredible article for Townhall stating that he will not stand with Black Live’s Matter. This paragraph stood out:

There is no goal of forgiveness or reconciliation. None. It’s never mentioned on their sites. You can’t talk about the sins of the past and expect to move forward if there is no intention of forgiveness. I’m tired of the deeply prejudiced oppressed/oppressor critical race theory paradigm. It’s not Gospel-centered. This should, immediately, be a deal-breaker for Christians.

Beatty opens that door for people.

The one thing where I part ways with Beatty is her explanation challenging the Democrat party’s anti-historic argument that the parties magically switched — that is, they claim that, while it was Lincoln and his fellow Republicans who freed the slaves, and admit that it was Southern Dems who introduced Jim Crow (although they’ll never admit to owning the KKK, the Dems paramilitary arm), they contend that the Civil Rights Movement triggered a switch, whereby Republicans suddenly became racists and Democrats became the saviors of the blacks.

Beatty’s right that this switch story is a lie, but I would frame it a bit differently. For the most part, Northeastern (and West Coast) Americans were every bit as prejudiced as Southerners. However, they were different in two ways from the South: They didn’t believe in slavery and they didn’t have blacks living amongst them, as was the case in the south. Regarding that second point, northerners simply consigned blacks to ghettos.

The “switch” happened because, when the Civil Rights movement and Brown v. Board of Education forced the South to abandon state-legislated racism, the ordinary people naturally slipped into faith in the free market, in America, in the Constitution, and in the true brotherhood of man. I will say again what I’ve said before, which is that, while I’m sure there are mean-spirited racists in the South, I’ve seen more mixed-race families here than I ever imagined could exist, more mixed-race friendships than I’ve ever seen in my life, and simply more friendly people of goodwill.

And here is the last black person who did not riot. Her tour of a trashed grocery store, along with her statement that she is a person of honor who pays for her things, is utterly heartbreaking:

I don’t know who that woman is, but I wish I did so I could set up a Publir for her. Publir is the free speech alternative to the hard-left GoFundMe. Technically, it’s for sites such as mine to raise money for themselves, but it seems to me that it would also work perfectly well to raise money for someone like the woman narrating that video.

Those stupid, pompous, virtue-signaling Hollywood people who make cringy videos and donate to the looters, need to have this video shown to them every hour of the day, 24-hours a day, for the rest of their pathetic, shallow, trend-following ignorant lives.

Corporate virtue-signaling about institutional racism hides the real problem in black America

America doesn’t have institutional racism. It has a black community that undercuts itself and enablers who allow blacks to blame others for their failings.

I know this sounds petty given the outrages on American streets, but one of the things that irritates me most is the corporate virtue signaling that’s going on. Whether on their home pages or social media, various corporations are in a race to abase themselves. It’s difficult to determine whether they’re doing this because they think it’s good business, or because their management is now made up almost entirely of leftist-indoctrinated white college grads, or because they’re trying to deter the looters from attacking them. (If that last is their goal, they’re failing miserably, as I’ll discuss more below.)

The most ridiculous thing about corporate America’s pushing the “we stand against systemic racism” narrative is that there is no systemic racism in America. Legally it is not allowed. Practically, there are two real problems, and they’re both buried within the black community. The first problem is that blacks commit crimes in numbers disproportionate to their representation in the population; the second is that there is a damaged black subculture that aims relentlessly downwards, not upwards.

First, the virtue-signaling: At the top of this post you can see a collage. It’s a collection of 13 virtue-signaling moments from American companies just to give you a sense of how desperately they’re embracing the “systemic racism” notion in America. If you scroll to the bottom of this post, you can see the complete images.

None of these corporations engage in discriminatory hiring. Even if they wanted to, it would be illegal. All of these corporations are staffed by university grads who are assiduously non-racist, so the likelihood that they would want to discriminate against anyone other than white males in hiring is slim to nil.

As I noted in the opening paragraph, the corporations are abasing themselves for one of three reasons: A marketing scheme, a plethora of management employees who graduated from American colleges in the last 25 years or so, or a payment to the Black Lives Matter movement along the lines of a protection racket.

If the last, it’s not working. As President Trump tweeted, Macy’s had all of the ground-level windows on its flagship New York store smashed:

A Mercedes-Benz store in Beverly Hills was looted:

A Bank of America in San Bernardino was looted:

A Wells Fargo in Minneapolis was looted:

Amazon trucks were looted in Santa Monica:

A FedEx in Melrose Park was looted:

A Footlocker in Austin was looted:

A Nordstrom in Seattle (Nordstrom’s home town) was burned down:

And of course Target, one of America’s premier virtue signalers, was at the epicenter of looting in its hometown of Minneapolis:

Corporate America has a lot of problems, including cowardice, greed, and way too many leftist management employees, but systemic racism is not one of the problems.

The black community’s problems lie with the black community. It’s true that a disproportionate number of blacks are victims of police violence relative to black presentation in the American population.

Do not forget the statement about lies, damn lies, and statistics. The implications flowing from that statistic are a damn lie. The police are not systematically slaughtering blacks.

The statistic hides the fact that blacks are disproportionately responsible for crime in America:

Today blacks are about 13 percent of the population and continue to be responsible for an inordinate amount of crime. Between 1976 and 2005 blacks committed more than half of all murders in the United States. The black arrest rate for most offenses — including robbery, aggravated assault and property crimes — is still typically two to three times their representation in the population. Blacks as a group are also overrepresented among persons arrested for so-called white-collar crimes such as counterfeiting, fraud and embezzlement. And blaming this decades-long, well-documented trend on racist cops, prosecutors, judges, sentencing guidelines and drug laws doesn’t cut it as a plausible explanation.

In other words, the likelihood that blacks will have contact with the police is vastly greater than the likelihood that other racial groups will. Each contact with the police in a crime situation increases the possibility that someone will get hurt.

Moreover, despite primarily preying on each other, blacks are also disproportionately responsible for crimes against whites:

Far from destroying the black body, whites are the overwhelming target of interracial violence. Between 2012 and 2015, blacks committed 85.5 percent of all black-white interracial violent victimizations (excluding interracial homicide, which is also disproportionately black-on-white). That works out to 540,360 felonious assaults on whites. Whites committed 14.4 percent of all interracial violent victimization, or 91,470 felonious assaults on blacks. Blacks are less than 13 percent of the national population.

And what about the famous “driving while black” problem? That’s a myth too:

According to the study commissioned by the New Jersey attorney general and leaked first to the New York Times and then to the Web, blacks make up 16 percent of the drivers on the turnpike, and 25 percent of the speeders in the 65-mile-per-hour zones, where profiling complaints are most common. (The study counted only those going more than 15 miles per hour over the speed limit as speeders.) Black drivers speed twice as much as white drivers, and speed at reckless levels even more. Blacks are actually stopped less than their speeding behavior would predict—they are 23 percent of those stopped.

Does this data mean that blacks are less capable of being law-abiding then whites? Of course not.

What it means is that both the black community and its white enablers are giving blacks a pass. The crime problem within the black community is the equivalent of alcoholism.

Early on, the alcoholic denies that there’s any problem at all. Sure, he has a few memory lapses and makes a fool of himself at parties, but it’s not a big deal. When the consequences increase, the alcoholic in denial starts the blame game: My boss is a jerk; my wife is a nag; the cop who pulled me over was an anti-black / anti-Hispanic / anti-white / anti-man / anti-Mercedes driver; that stupid woman cut in front of my car; the judge was a hard-ass….

We all know that the only way the alcoholic is going to end this destructive behavior – destructive to himself, his family, his colleagues, and his community – is for him to acknowledge that he has a problem and that he is the problem.

Slavery ended in 1865. The Jim Crow era ended in 1964 with the passage of the Civil Rights Act, almost 60 years ago. Over 85% of the population today was under ten years old the last time institutionalized racism existed. Today’s whites were not the problem with slavery and Jim Crow and today’s blacks were not the victims.

There are racists today. Pick any race, and you’ll find people within it who hate other races. As a Jew, I certainly know about that. After all, next to American Muslims, who hate Jews with a burning fervor, the most anti-Semitic cohort in America is blacks. (The link is a little old, but believe me, since then, the problem has gotten worse, not better.)

These racists are icky people, but they are not what’s standing in the way of blacks. What’s standing in the way is saying the kids who do well in school are “acting white” – and then beating them up. What’s standing in the way is feeling that, because of slavery, you’re entitled to commit crime. What’s standing in the way is fatherless homes because the welfare system makes men expensive. After all, welfare is worth more than a low-salary. What’s standing in the way is a bad attitude, which sees blacks assume that everyone hates them.

This is a Jewish joke. It could be a black one:

Man 1 sees Man 2 walking down the street, obviously upset. Man 1 asks Man 2 what happened.

Man 2 explains, “I-I-I ap-ap-applied for a j-j-j-job as a D-D-D-J and-and-and they t-t-t-turned me d-d-down. D-d-d-amned anti-S-s-semites.

No, it’s not always anti-Semites and racism. Sometimes it’s you. When that small cohort of blacks that treats itself like garbage starts cleaning up its act – less crime, less antipathy to education, more marriage, a smaller chip on its collective shoulder, a greater willingness to bring energy and intelligence to work – then I’ll believe it when blacks and white liberals say we live in a world of systemic, institutionalized racism.

I blame middle-class blacks, too, even though they don’t show any of those behaviors. Somehow they managed to escape racism, but when they’re faced with that percentage of blacks that fails at everything but crime, suddenly these middle-class blacks blame racism and only racism.

Going back to my alcoholism analogy, these middle-classers are enablers. And by the way, a lot of people like being enablers. They complain about the person they’re enabling, but they enjoy the feeling of superiority.

Despite 4,000 years of consistent genocidal mania, which ended with 6,000,000 slaughtered in four years, Jews have done all right. Their collective success is not because of some evil cabal. It comes about because the Bible tells them to live justly, and the majority of Jews do.

I am certain that every black in America is at least as good as, as smart as, as honest as, and as capable as every Jew in America. Or, for that matter, the equal of Asians, Whites, Hispanics, and all other races in America. I believe we’re all God’s children or Nature’s children or whatever’s children, but that we are fundamentally equal. Sure, there’s always going to be a bell curve, with some people more athlete, more beautiful, more mathematically-gifted, or more verbal, but that’s a HUMAN bell curve, not a racial bell curve. What I almost sure of is that those people who strive, who aspire, and who abide by basic legal principles (including driving at the speed limit) will – on average – do better. Not all will. Yes, some will run afoul of jerks, racists, and even evil cops. But on average, in America, the recipe for success is always the same: Work hard in school, work hard at work, abide by the law, get married, have children, stay married.

(I know that black kids are trapped in stinky schools. Blame virtue-signaling white leftists and black race hustlers for that because they oppose vouchers that increase competition and, therefore, quality. But blame the black community for not emphasizing education and allowing their children to run with the idea that getting educated is a form of race betrayal.)

So, now I role back to where I started, which is those virtue-signaling corporations. These craven enterprises are simply more enablers who perpetuate the race-aholism that perpetually afflicts America’s black community.

Random postscript: Considering that blacks are the primary victims of black crime, I think all law-abiding black citizens should be armed. Since the problem of black crime begins at home (meaning the neighborhood), that should be the best way to control the problem. Unfortunately, those white liberal enablers and their black race-hustler cronies have decided to disarm those law-abiding blacks suffering in urban black communities.

Minneapolis riots — Another leftist city reaps what it sowed

The riots in Minneapolis were inevitable for Leftist policies against racism and income inequality lead to racism, income inequality, and police brutality.

Tom Wolfe famously said, “The dark night of fascism is always descending in the United States and yet lands only in Europe.” Aside from being as true now as it was the day he spoke those words, a variant applies to America as well: “The dark night of racism and income inequality is always descending in America’s conservative heartland and yet lands only in its Democrat-run cities.”

This should not surprise anybody. Democrat policies, even as they ostensibly “fight” racism and income inequality, create the perfect environment for those vices to grow and eventually smother the host.

Income inequality inevitably occurs when the government perverts the marketplace. Humans are marvelously adaptable creatures. We will follow wherever the incentives lead. In leftist cities, the incentives are broken. The government puts its thumb on the scale all over the place.

As just one example, think of rent control, which leftists argue is necessary to ensure that poor people can afford rent. Additionally, what’s paired with rent control is a set of laws that makes it almost impossible for a landlord to evict non-rent paying tenants.

What these two sets of law do is shrink rental stock. If you have rent control and it’s impossible to evict deadbeat tenants, there’s no profit and therefore no incentive for people to invest in rental property. In addition, for those who have braved the rental market, landlords are loath to maintain it at anything other than a bare minimum of livability. This is why leftist cities end up with housing for the wealthy and slums (see, e.g., San Francisco). The process has been slower in Minneapolis, which has more acreage than San Francisco but rest assured, even Minneapolis will get there.

“Under-classism,” which is where so much racism incubates, will invariably occur when you have a government that incentives the underclass. Welfare is one example. I believe in taking care of the widows and orphans, by which I mean people who are truly unable to care for themselves. However, our welfare system, beginning in the 1960s, incentivized single-motherhood. Indeed, it was set up to ensure, not only that women jettisoned husbands, who decreased their welfare payments but to make it profitable to have more children.

Back in the 1970s, even 60 Minutes noticed a problem with this, for I distinctly remember an episode that spoke about the way New Jersey’s welfare system was set up to make having illegitimate babies economically sensible for young women, with more babies bringing in significantly more money. As well all know, single motherhood is the most certain path to generational poverty. That episode, by the way, was one of the first stepping stones in my long, slow journey across the Rubicon from Democrat to conservative.

Leftist cities also have hosts of regulations, all with an eye to making things “more fair” for the poor and for minorities. However, by making business too expensive and difficult, the laws just drive businesses out. I’ve written before about the way in which the legal problems associated with firing minority employees mean that employers leave the marketplace, creating unemployment and a lower tax base.

In addition, those laws tell minorities, who are not incompetent but are, instead, completely rational, know that they don’t have to work as hard to keep a job. The law, therefore, degrades them, for the offer employers their worst conduct not their best. “Best,” after all, takes energy, and conservation of energy is one of the universe’s most honored controlling principles.

Another way leftist cities creating an underclass is the misguided sympathy that sees them allowing street crimes and underwriting drug use. Last year, Chesa Boudin, San Francisco’s Marxist District Attorney, announced that he would no longer prosecute any lifestyle crimes, making the city one giant cesspool. Not only does this draw in the criminals and addicts, but it also drives out the tax base. People with jobs and families can no longer stay in that kind of environment.

One thing that happens when you’ve created this kind of landscape is that the police degrade. Instead of having true community policing, where the police and the law-abiding in the community have a partnership aimed at keeping the environment healthy, you end up with police facing off against the functional equivalent of zombies, whether gangbangers or insane druggies.

It’s the rare police officer dealing with this day after day who can hang onto humanity and decency. Eventually and inevitably, police stop seeing the people on the other side of the thin blue line as fellow humans. Instead, because government policies induce many to act like animals, the police fall into the error and evil of treating them that way.

This problem (i.e., police dehumanizing the citizens they’re supposed to protect) gets worse as good cops leave the police departments in decayed cities. Two things happen, then. First, the only ones left are the bad cops. Second, applicant quality declines, leaving the police departments stuck hiring people who shouldn’t be holding badges and guns. (I urge you to read the book I reviewed in this post, for it tells about the horrible damage a bad police department can do.)

When you have a large enough underclass, and you light the spark, suddenly you have Minneapolis. This poster sums it up:

Minneapolis riots v MLK civil rights protests

Martin Luther King led law-abiding citizens who dreamed of being middle-class people in a functional society. Black Lives Matters draws its strength from the mob. It has no intention of encouraging its followers into civilized behavior. It needs anger, chaos, and terror to achieve its power.

Part of me looks at what’s happening in Minneapolis and thinks, “That’s so awful. It’s a very nice Midwestern city and I really hate seeing random destruction.” The other part of me looks at what’s happening and thinks, “For decades, you’ve been pursuing hard-left policies that create greater economic inequalities and that highlight racial divides, all while you’ve been smugly telling conservatives that they’re evil for not doing the same as you. All you did, though, was worsen those problems. As you sow, so shall you reap. In other words, it couldn’t happen to a more smug group of leftists.”

Speaking of this karmic leftist wheel, which sees Democrat-run communities smugly enact policies that create greater poverty and more racism, lets talk about the mobs targeting Target. I’m sorry to see Target stores looted because I value private property and a well-ordered world.

Still, there is something karmic about it happening to Target of all companies. After all, Target, which is headquartered in Minneapolis, is one of America’s most dutiful virtue-signaling corporations. Who can forget its decision to open women’s restrooms to all genders? Likewise, if you go to a Target in June, you’re buried in LGBTQ rainbow iconography. The leftist virtue-signaling is smothering.

Of course, the sad thing is that these leftists will not learn from this failure. Instead, like the classic insane person, they’ll keep doing the same thing, all the while hoping for a different outcome. Indeed, if history is a guide, they’ll double down on their bad policies.
